The study was conducted by the FDA’s Center for Drug Evaluation and Research. The agency said the increased risk of serious side effects from NSAIDs is considered a drug safety concern. Other safety concerns include increased blood pressure and an increase in heart rate.
The FDA said the agency also is reviewing the findings of the study. It has not issued a statement regarding the drug safety.
“We remain committed to working with manufacturers to address the safety concerns and to provide patients with safer, more affordable drugs,” the FDA said in a statement.
The agency also is requiring manufacturers to post a drug information label on the label of all prescription drugs.
